Change Your Habits; Change Your Life

Many people have bad eating habits and don't even realize it. The good news is that these habits can be changed and replaced with good, healthy habits that will lead to a slimmer you.

Beware of Being Super Sized

Dining out while trying to lose weight can be challenging. Making smart decisions about what to eat in a restaurant requires that you follow the same guidelines you do when planning your meals at home. Here are some simple tips to help you make Healthy Choices:

  • Don't Arrive Hungry- It will make you more vulnerable to temptation and leads to overeating.
  • Skip the Bread Basket
  • Practice Portion Control- Share a meal or ask the server for a "take home" bag with your entree and pack up half before you dig in.
  • Drink Plenty of Water- Drinking a glass of water before each course can help you to eat more slowly and feel full.

Slow Down and Lose Weight

Eating too fast can lead to eating too much. That's why we advise clients to make a conscious effort to slow their eating down. Eating slowly enables your body to receive the full signals it needs to help you feel satisfied sooner. Try these tips to slow your eating down:

  • Chew food well - Savor every bite. You will eat less and enjoy each mouthful more.
  • Take smaller bites - Cut your food into smaller bites to limit overindulgence.
  • Find a role model - Observe a healthy weight person and match their eating patterns. Soon you will be the one people follow.

Rethink Your Plate

Once you've conquered how you eat, focus on changing your perception of food. Try these tips to help you feel satisfied:

  • Make your portions seem larger - Use smaller plates and spread food out. Feeling like you have a lot of food can be very satisfying.
  • Don't clean your plate - Forget the old adage about waste and keep the focus on your waist. Leave a little food on your plate each meal, and watch those pounds melt away.

Message From Pam

It is not often that a person has the opportunity to change the lives of others. As the nutritionist for Results Weight Loss, I am blessed to be inspired by our company mission statement, “changing lives through weight loss”. Our clients come to us with a desire to lose weight. Some come to fit into a certain dress size for a reunion, some come to us to lose weight after a divorce, some to improve their overall health, while others come to get to that prenatal weight that may lead to a new baby. There are as many reasons for weight loss as the number of clients. All our clients do have something in common; our clients have a burning desire that drives them towards their weight loss goals.

As with any desire there are times when the desire is not enough to bring the intended result. The good news is that our clients do not have to navigate the weight loss process alone. Our center coaches are the” big guns”; you know the secret weapon that no one else has. They inspire, cajole and hold hands with you. Our coaches counsel on a 1:1 basis. They are there for you every step on the way.

Our clients become our work family and we strive as a team to work hard whether it is developing a new diet program, finding a new healthy snack or celebrating a client’s weight loss at the scale. I am proud to be part of the team that empowers clients to make the changes through weight loss.
