What is Genetic Testing for Weight Loss?

What is Genetic Testing for Weight Loss?

Every cell in your body contains DNA holding all your genetic information. Genetic testing for weight loss simply involves taking a sample of cells from the inside of your mouth and sending them to an independent genetics laboratory that analyzes the DNA. The test analyzes 5 variations in 4 specific genes that are known to impact metabolism and weight loss. The laboratory returns a report that indicates how your body processes macronutrients. This information is used by Results Weight Loss® to design a nutrition plan that will work best for you.

Cheek Swab

About the Weight Management Test:

The Weight Management Test is an easy, safe and non-invasive cheek swab, performed by the client, on-site in the Results Weight Loss Center®. The test results help you learn more about your genetic tendencies for weight gain and metabolism, which can help lead you on a healthier and more consistent path to weight loss through a program, designed by Results Weight Loss®, and tailored specifically to your gene type.

Preserving Your Privacy:

Because genetic information is the most personal of all health information, the Weight Management Test is processed at a state of the art CLIA-certified laboratory.

  • Your sample is bar-coded for privacy and security.
  • Your DNA sample will be destroyed within 10 days after test results are verified.
  • Genetic analysis is restricted to only the specific testing that has your expressed, written consent.

How It Helps...

The facts speak for themselves: In a clinical study on weight management, people who followed a program that was matched to their genetic makeup lost two and a half times more weight than those who didn't.

Your genetic makeup does not pre-determine your weight; however, certain genetic variations appear to increase the challenge of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

Learning more about your tendencies for weight gain and metabolism can help lead you on a more consistent path to weight loss and maintaining that weight loss for life.

Why are genetics important to weight management?

Genetic variations can provide us with important differences in how well we digest certain foods, absorb particular nutrients, use those nutrients to operate our bodies, and burn fat during exercise.

The results of the Genetic Test, helps to identify your specific genotype which will provide key information about your unique genetic makeup.

Using the OptiGenT Weight Management program, consultants at Results Weight Loss® will develop and align a customized nutrition plan that supports your genetics and optimizes your weight loss success for life.

How many diets have you tried in the past, attempting to lose weight? If you are like most, you have tried many diets with mixed results. Sometimes you have had successful weight loss and other times the weight loss results were not as obvious. Does this sound familiar? Have you ever wondered why? It is important to take a step back and assess the situation. Even with a change of diet and increase in activity, some individuals are not as successful in changing their body mass as others.
